作用原理
旋风磨是通过样品与转刀的撞击与摩擦，和样品在转刀和环筛之间的摩擦而达到粉碎效果。样品从防回溅进样口进入到飞速旋转的转刀中，从而进行预粉碎。而后样品以强大的离心加速度向圆周抛掷，在转刀和环筛之间被进一步粉碎。 这种两级式的粉碎方式使制样过程达到了温和和快速的效果；样品只在粉碎腔内滞留很短的时间；因而，样品本身的特性不会经由制样过程而有所改变。研磨完成的样品被旋风分离器分离，可在样品瓶中收集。
